‘Navagaman’ Two-Day Orientation Programme Concludes with Colours and Creativity 🎨
The two-day ‘Navagaman’ Orientation Programme, held on 31 August and 1 September 2026 marked a memorable beginning filled with art, imagination and creativity for the newly admitted students.
On the first day, students explored their creative expression through folk and contemporary art forms, including Canvas Handbag Painting and Warli Painting. The second day featured a watercolour workshop where students freely experimented with colours, lines and forms, bringing their imagination to life on canvas. An exhibition of the artworks created by the students was also organised on the concluding day and drew much appreciation.
A major highlight of the programme was a watercolour demonstration by young artist Saurabh Shi from Kolkata. He offered practical guidance to the students while sharing insights into the nuances of transparency, texture, light and shade, and brush techniques in watercolour painting.
At the closing ceremony, Dean Dr. Vandana Sehgal felicitated Saurabh Shi with an angavastram and a memento. Appreciating the students’ artworks, she emphasised that architectural education is not limited to the creation of buildings; it is a continuous process of developing sensitivity, aesthetic awareness and creative thinking.
‘Navagaman’ aimed to help students experience art and architecture as complementary languages. Over these two days, colours were not only spread across canvases but also marked the beginning of a new creative journey for every student.
