Initiatives under the National TB Elimination Program

Faculty of Architecture and Planning, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University hosted a Faculty Development Program from 10th-14th June 2019 on “Computer Applications in Architecture” in association with AICTE. Studio Symbiosis whose principal founding member’s Britta Knobel Gupta and Amit Gupta are pioneers in the field parametric architecture conducted the program.The program was an intensive one and brought together faculty members from various institutions and involved a lot of brainstorming sessions. The end product of the FDP was a lightweight structure made by the participants in campus.




Inauguration of Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhaya Academic Block

Faculty of Architecture, Lucknow, currently affiliated by Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University inaugurated its new Academic Block Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhaya Academic Block with Hon’ble Chancellor & H.E. Governor of U.P. Shri. Ram Naik being the Chief guest. Special guest for the occasion was Shri. Ashutosh Tandon, Hon’ble Technical & Medical Education Minister of U.P. Among the dignitaries present were Dr. Vinay Kumar Pathak, Vice Chancellor, AKTU; Mr. Bhuvnesh Kumar (Secretary, Technical University).






Built Heritage Conservation for Future Use-An Open lecture by Ar. Nishant Upadhyay

Ar. Nishant shared his works and experiences in the field of heritage ,rural areas, traditions and landscape. through the means of an open lecture.He has worked with several national and international organisations like INTACH, UNESCO, ICOMOS.






Online Teaching in Architecture: A Paradigm Shift

Faculty of Architecture and Planning, AKTU organised a medical camp at village Saidanpur in Barabanki District on Friday 10th September participated by the faculty members under the guidance of dean and ably conducted by Doctors from City Hospital Lucknow Dr Ajay Kumar Pediatrician and Gynaecologist Dr Nidhi Johri also assisted by Pathologist from Pathkind Satish Pal and coordinated by Jyotsna Kaur Habibullah Founder CEO Lucknow Farmers Market and DEF (Digital Empowerment Foundation) Saidanpur team led by Project Manager Utkarsh Singh Rajawat.

DEF team worked tirelessly to coordinate the camp including Layak Ram and Zoha. The faculty of AKTU interacted with girls at the centre and we're very pleased to know so many girls were studying and working towards being Doctors, Teachers Nurses. Jyotsna is also connecting the girls with a mentorship program to help them achieve their goals.




Live Webinar on Good Practices for Conservation of Monuments and Sites by Ar. Nishant Upadhyay

About the webinar: In order to respond to the need for design interventions in monuments and sites; conservation and design professionals need a brief introduction to the charters of ICOMOS and UNESCO guidelines for conservation of built heritage in urban
or rural scenarios. The webinar will introduce these international guidelines along with sharing interesting case studies across the globe, where designers have done interventions to built heritage and surroundings to respond to the contemporary needs and society. About the speaker:

Ar. Nishant Upadhyay, an alumnus of the Faculty of Architecture, AKTU, Lucknow, has been trained as a conservation architect in RLICC, KULeuven, Belgium.He is the founder architect of DHARATAL a design studio with a specialization in vernacular architecture and historical landscapes.




Lecture by Dr. Shaleen Singhal on Literature Review in Research

Dr Shaleen Singhal visited the campus on 9th March for a special lecture on Literature review in Research and methodology for review .Dr. Singhal is a Professor at TERI School of Advanced Studies with 21 years of research and academic experience working on sustainable urban development issues in India and UK






Lecture by Rosie Llewellyn Jones about Lord Claude Martin and Chhatarmanzil

A lecture on Lord Claude Martin and Chhatarmanzil was delivered by Dr. Rosie Llewellyn Jones. Dr. Jones is a well-known British scholar with an expertise on Lucknow and has authored several books on the city including “Last King in India, Wajid Ali Shah; Lucknow City of Illusions; Engaging Scoundrels;, and The Great Uprising In India, 1857.
